Who made Claroline?

From ClarolineDoc

The software was initially started by the University of Louvain (Belgium) and released under Open Source licence (GPL). A community of developers around the world have since contributed to its development. Downloading and using Claroline is completely free of charge.

Claroline has been developed by an international network of teachers and developers scattered around the world. It recycles entire programs or pieces of code found in the vast library of the GPL Open Source internet mediated community.

Thomas De Praetere created Claroline at Université catholique de Louvain (Institut de Pédagogie universitaire et des Multimédias). He was helped financially by Fondation Louvain. Hugues Peeters (who coined the name "Claroline"), Frédéric Minne and Christophe Gesché, financed by UCL too (Fonds de développement pédagogique), quickly followed.

Since the beginning of 2004, the Cerdecam (research center of ECAM (http://www.ecam.be)) is collaborating on the development of Claroline. The members of this team are : Guillaume Lederer, Mathieu Laurent, Aurélien Van Hamme, Sébastien Piraux, Nicolas Leblanc, Florence Ortmans, Anaïs Hulet under supervision of Philippe Mercenier and Philippe Dekimpe. This team is financed by the Région wallonne.
