The course description settings tool

From ClarolineDoc

The course description settings tool allows you to describe different aspects of your course to your students, by giving them information about skills and objectives for example. You create a general description, give details on the qualifications and goals, course content, teaching-training activities, support, human and physical resources, or methods of evaluation. The headings proposed are only suggestions. An option Other allows you to create personalized headings.

Administering the course description tool

  • To access the course description settings tool, click the Course description link from the course's home page. You are then presented with a drop-down box that lists the description headings that have yet to be created. Select a heading from the menu and click the Add button to create a description.
  • On the following page, type a header into the Title text box. Then use the WYSIWYG editor to create the content for the description. Use the questions and suggestions at the right of the WYSIWYG editor as guidelines for creating the content.
  • When you're finished, click the Ok button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes. You'll be taken back to the course description settings page where you can view your changes.
  • Now that you've added a description, its title no longer appears in the drop-down menu. To edit it, click the pencil icon. This brings you back to the page with the WYSIWYG editor. Make your modifications. Click the Ok button to save your changes, or click the Cancel button to discard your changes.

To insert an image

  • Click the Insert image icon in the WYSIWYG editor. You're presented with the Insert Image pop-up dialog box.
  • Click the Browse... button to locate an image on your local computer, and click the Upload button to upload the image to the server.
  • If the upload is successful, you'll see a preview of your image in the Image Preview area of the dialog box, and you'll see the URL to the image in the Image URL text box.
  • Fill in the other attributes of the image in the appropriate fields, and click the Ok button to save your changes. Click the Cancel button to discard your changes.
