The announcements tool

With the announcements tool, the lecturers can display current information to the students and draw their attention to it. The lecturer can for example remind a approaching deadline, point out new documents online, or communicate about an interesting conference.

  • As a course manager (Profile Image:Manager.gif) you can :
    • Display a list of current information on the announcements page. Add, delete or change announcements at any time.
    • E-mail your announcements to all the users enrolled in the course page.
    • E-mail an announcement to a specific group of users.
  • For a student, this could be a good reason to enrol in the course page even if the course page is publicly visible, and also to provide a valid e-mail address.
Note : lecturers who want to give instructions on scheduled events (e.g. individual lectures) should use The agenda tool.

Administering announcements

To add an announcement

  • Enter text into the box by clicking Add announcement.
  • Click on Ok.
  • You can also Attach an existing resource.

To send an annoucement by e-mail

  • You can send an annoucement to selected users.
  • Click on Messages to selected users.

To Modify an existing announcement

  • Click on the Image:Edit.gif icon immediately below the announcement you wish to change.
  • Correct the announcement text.
  • Click on Ok.

To Delete an existing announcement

  • Click on the Image:Delete.gif icon immediately below the announcement you wish to delete.
